Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council (DCC) is the local authority for the wider Dunedin area, in Aotearoa New Zealand. It has 15 elected councillors, serves 130,400 people and is committed to embedding the Treaty of Waitangi and sustainability in its strategies and operational activity. The DCC has implemented its Zero Carbon policy and plan and co-developed with mana whenua - Te Taki Haruru - its Māori Strategic Framework. The DCC provides network infrastructure including waste and water facilities, roading, parks, reserves, playgrounds, pools, libraries, an art gallery and museum. The DCC’s services range from registering dogs to urban design, collecting rubbish and recycling, to funding community and place-based groups and local events. The DCC seeks to support and promote peoples’ wellbeing by improving their quality of life, as well as planning for the future needs of Ōtepoti Dunedin residents.
