Senior Planetary consultant

Are you a sustainability specialist with experience in sustainability consultancy who is passionate about driving change for a sustainable future? We are looking for a sustainability superstar to join our team to help us lead and deliver Planetary Accounting initiatives for businesses, governments, and communities.

About us

PAN is a New Zealand based charitable trust with a global outlook. Our purpose is to help people, businesses, and governments to operate within the planet’s limits. We do this by using a framework called Planetary Accounting – which helps break down global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and deforestation into manageable chunks so that people can identify the specific actions they can take to drive change.

About the role

We are looking for someone to join our growing team as a Senior Planetary Accounting specialist (no Planetary Accounting experience necessary but some environmental or carbon accounting experience is a must!).

Put your sustainability consultancy experience to use leading exciting initiatives with diverse partners across the public and private sectors.
Hone your project management, people leadership, and business development skills as a senior player in a small but rapidly growing organisation.
Combine your technical expertise in environmental accounting, your innovative flair and your interpersonal skills to help us leverage planetary accounting to drive outcomes towards planetary health at different scales.
Seize the opportunity to make a tangible difference to corporate and government decision making for environmental excellence.
Work with business leaders from large New Zealand organisations.

There is plenty of scope for you to grow your career and expand your networks and profile in this role. We are launching and scaling up some exciting initiatives and are looking for people who can step up and help lead these.

Key activities you will be involved in include:

Work with our clients and partners to lead planetary accounting solutions from running strategic workshops to undertaking detailed environmental accounts.
Lead the development and refinement of our standards and methodologies.
Develop and deliver content for our network to support them to understand and use the planetary accounting framework.
Work with the team to help us identify and deliver opportunities to accelerate change.

About you

No Planetary Accounting experience is expected but you will ideally have experience with delivering carbon accounting projects and/or life-cycle assessments. An understanding of environmental accounting standards is a plus.

You will be a self-starter and fantastic communicator who is organised, enthusiastic, and very reliable. You will understand the nature of start-ups and be willing and keen to take on a wide range of tasks to support the overall needs of the organisation.

We are a fully virtual and highly flexible team so you this role would suit any location and you will have a very flexible work schedule. However, you will need to be available for meetings with clients and the team during New Zealand work hours and must be NZ based for tax purposes.
